새표
不의 첫 획, 一은 하늘이다.
하늘 아래 화살표 모양은
새의 양 날개와 꽁지깃을 본떴다.
不이란 한자엔 하늘 복판에 점을 찍는 새가 있다.
사랑만으로 솟구쳐 오르는 철부지 날갯짓이 있다.
하늘만 보는 싹눈에게도 새가 안 보인다.
아니 보여서, 아니 不이다.
화살표라는 피 묻은 이름을 버리자.
가서 돌아오지 않는 화살이 아니라
둥지로 날아오는 새표라 부르자.
하늘의 젖꼭지 쪼러가는 하늘새표라 하자.
새표를 따라가면, 아니야! 그게 아니라니까!
그간 내팽개친 새털구름을 만나리라.
눈 치켜뜨고 손사래 칠 때마다 쇠구슬로 녹스는 새알들
다시 품게 되리라. 너는 죽고 나만 살아야 한다는
화살표는 버리자. 화살표 끝자리엔 주검이 있다.
까마귀가 있다. 구더기의 역사가 있다.
쌍꺼풀 아름다운 파랑새표라 부르자.
하늘의 꼭짓점은 새의 부리가 찍는 것,
움켜잡았던 허공마저 풀어놓고는
노래만 물고 오는 아침새표가 되자.

A Bird Sign
The first stroke of the character “bul” 不 stands for ‘sky’: —
The arrow under ‘sky’ is shaped
After the wings and tail of a bird.
This Chinese letter “bul”不 shows
A bird pointing to the center of the sky:
It is a baby bird flapping its wings to fly high, simply out of love, its nest,
Even the eyes of a leaf bud see only sky and cannot see the bird.
So the sign ”bul” ‘不’ means ‘not(seen)’.
Some call the sign an arrow, a bloody word,
But let’s call it a bird, pecking at the nipple of the sky, and flying back home to its nest
Rather than an arrow, which flies and does not return.
If you follow the sign, “No!” I told you it’s not!
You would meet the clouds of its feathers
Abandoned in the past.
You shall sit on the eggs again, eggs that have rusted and become iron beads
Whenever you waved your hand while frowning angrily.
Let’s abandon the arrow
That leaves you dead and only me alive.
There is death at the end of an arrow’s flight.
There is a crow. There is a history of maggots.
Let’s call it a bluebird sign, with beautiful eyes,
Its beak toward the sky.
Let it be a morning bird sign,
Releasing even the air it grabs, to sing its song and return.
