All of Muryangsa Temple- By Kong Kwangkyu

All of Muryangsa Temple

I went to hug my wife for the first time in a long time
and she asked, “How much do you love me?”
Confounded by the way my wife, aging like a dried pollack
spoke as if we were on our honeymoon
I mindlessly threw back at her the confounding answer
“Monumentally!”
Monumentally?!
After that day, like the Muryangsa Temple built with flesh and bones
she cooks in the kitchen
and cleans in the bathroom
and watches TV in the living room
when I come home after drinking all night
she’ll wail like an instrument
but on days the children do well in school
she’ll ring bright like a bell
and on nights when the bed is relatively warm
she makes the sound of breeze brushing against the floral temple door
